Mary Anne Tierney, RN, MPH, is an Electromagnetic Radiation Specialist, certified by the Building Biology Institute. She has specialized in health behavior change for the past 30 years, working at the individual, community, and policy levels, first as a public health educator and then as a psychiatric nurse, caring for patients in early recovery from the disease of addiction. Passionate about preventing children from EMF-related health conditions, Mary Anne founded SafeTech Kids NC, a grassroots organization focused on EMF policy advocacy. Mary Anne now devotes her career to EMF education, assessments, mitigation, and wellness coaching of electro-sensitive individuals through her NC-based company, Blue Ridge EMF Solutions.

Overcoming the Dam of Denial + Role Play
Electromagnetic Radiation Specialist Mary Anne Tierney, RN, MPH, will highlight the public health theory called the Stages of Change and provide practical tips to advance patients’ knowledge, attitudes, and practices related to EMF exposures. She will role-play a scenario with a challenging patient (played by Cece Doucette, our conference’s Outreach Coordinator) to help overcome real and perceived barriers to dependence on wireless devices. Dr.Nicholas Kardaras will end the session with highlights of how he helps patients and their families move through behavioral challenges from screen addiction.
